Wake Forest School of Medicine offers a 1-year UCNS Accredited Headache Fellowship, providing experiences for the management of primary and secondary headache disorders in the outpatient setting.  Fellows will work with adult and pediatric trained board-certified headache specialist with diverse backgrounds allowing the candidate to assimilate different styles and develop their own approach to patients with symptoms of headache.  We offer the opportunity to participate in research, clinical writing, and excellent patient care.  Our graduating fellow will be eligible to take UCNS Headache Medicine Boards to obtain Certification as a UCNS certified Headache Specialist. 

Application Process:  

Each applicant is required to have completed a residency program in either pediatrics, family medicine, internal medicine, neurology or child neurology accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in the U.S. or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Applicants must qualify for licensure by the North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners and must be board-eligible.

The Headache Medicine Fellowship application season will be participating in the NRMP Match.  All applicants should register for the Headache Medicine Match with NRMP at https://www.nrmp.org/fellowship-applicants/selecting-fellowships/headache-medicine-fellowship-match/.  

Interested candidates can apply for a fellowship position by submitting the following documentation: Headache Medicine Fellowship application, current CV, letter of interest explaining career choice and goals; three letters of recommendation (one must be from your residency program director), USMLE or COMLEX transcripts/scores report, ECFMG certificate (if applicable) and current photo.

Foreign medical graduates must have passed the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Gradates (ECFMG) and USMLE exams. For more information, visit the ECFMG website. We sponsor J-1 visas only, which you must have at the time of your application.
